Full Days
First off, my apologies for the photo heavy post. They all will be for the next couple of days. I thought about just doing thumbnails, but…well…I prefer not to have to click on a picture to see it, and it’s my blog.
So lots of people ask me why I come to camp. They ask if I learn a lot. Well…yes and no. Not in the traditional sense of sitting through classes. It’s the ideas. The really big part - the inspiration.
This camp has a ton of show & tell. I’ve got at least one of everyone who went today. I think they’re in reverse alpha.
Without further ado, Retreat 2.75, Version 34:
Old friends:

The group:

Schoolhouse Press shopping area:

I love these bales of Unspun Icelandic:

Terry - the Sailing Knitter linked to the right:

Yes, we pretty much eat constantly.
Before show and tell, some good thoughts from today:
Yarn Room - No, I’m not the only one.
Arglebargle - today it was pair/pairs. I love a good arglebargle. They’re generally less ugly than a kerfluffle. More of just a good discussion.
And the quote of the day: “Don’t should on yourself.” I’m getting there!
Todays show and tell:
Victoria and her beautiful shawl:

Closer view:

Jane H and her not-quite-so-easy Japanese sweater:

Mary G-F. Amazing take off on a boutique wrap/jacket/thingy. Very versatile, if a bit heavy in a rayon from Intrlacements:

The whole thing:

Back view:

M’Lou had her usual jaw-dropping double knit contribution:

You can imagine the comments when Greg (in his socks, tennis shoes, and shorts while modeling) showed the inside of the totally reversible garment.

Mary L - the top of this hat was really cool, I wish I would have got a good shot of it.

Miss Martha and Sally. Sally wasn’t part of show and tell, nor was the beaded sweater Martha was wearing.

This was her official piece.

Linda C and her Joslyns baby blanket. She’s a less stressed person than I am - I would have had to pull that corner, even if it is just one of those vagaries of hand dyed yarn.

Lesley and her Heartbeat Sweater. I wanted to just steal it right off her back.

Karen and her Noro shawl.

Joy knit this with two strands held together throughout. The heathery looking section was one each of the dark and the lighter pink.

Jean and the Travelers Jacket. Neat way to show off some special yarn.

Janine (link to the right) and her Acorn Sweater.

Jane L and her Noro (NOT RED) vest:

Jane D:

And her really cool mitered vest:

Greg’s fingerless gloves. Knit with his very own HAND SPUN. Whoo hoo!

Eileen has been a very busy lace knitter this year. Here’s Illeana modeling one of the VLT scarves:

Mary modeling one of the gorgeous shawls:

And Amy modeling another. Gee - I wonder why she picked that one???

Speaking of Amy, she has some very exciting news. As soon as she gives me her blog link I’ll pass it on.
Cindy also did the lace knitting thing this year, also very nicely:

And another:

She also had some great hats, one of which was a traveling stitch over a lighter background. I’m telling you, these great knitterly minds work alike…
And finally, Betts. I really, really want to steal these sweaters. Not only are they my color, she’s my size so I could wear them.

This next one- it’s entrelac. Look closely. It’s absolutely stunning.

I’ve got to ask her which magazine it was published in. She said they dorked it up when they printed it, but seeing this version I bet I can make tweaks to make it more like the one she’s wearing here.

So that’s your first full day synopsis. Dinner was good, although a bit long. Knit for a while, finished this, and am about to hit the bed for (I hope) a good solid nights sleep.

Hooray! Show and tell pictures!
And I forgot that you’re in a different time zone . . . I should have stayed up later!

I am blown away by your great photos. i am also in tears that I wasn’t there to see all of my 2.75 friends. The work is beautiful and inspiring but to me it is what happens between the knitters during that very special time together. I wish that I could come to all camps. Alas, only 1 per, eh? So….I am getting ready to meet my good friends at oft-timers next week. I’ll try to pare the SNT down to 2 items, how’s that? Thank you so much for sharing your lovely pictures……
Hugs,

Wonderful tour of camp; wish I could have been there!
If you do find the source for that fabulous entrelac cardigan, I would love to acquire the pattern. I googled but to no avail, so far.

I loved seeing and reading all you posted! I can see what I missed. I had to cancel my first time to camp. I cried.
