I Didn’t Mean To Be Gone So Long

Kept thinking “I’ll do a blog post today” and then getting distracted. Today I’m finally doing it.

First off, we had a fabulous vacation. I put pictures up on IG (as lpahdoco) and on FB if you’d like to see them. We liked it enough we’ve booked Antigua for February of 2018.

I have done lots of fiber work since the last post though. The funnest one was a Gimmiemas present out of the Oh Ess Ewe color from The Yarn Mama.

And a little closer view.

It’s stockinette not icord but it’s so narrow it behaves the same way. It’s done with intarsia (normally a big UGH for me) but because there were so few twists it wasn’t so bad.

I finished my first weaving project on the Baby Wolf, and I really like how it came out.

I was concerned with breaking warp threads, but they all held up through the entire process. It would have been better with a little wider sett, but it still finished up nicely. I’ve figured out what my next project will be, but I haven’t had a chance to do the math and warp it up yet.

Another Gimmiemas present was a hat. The recipient asked if I could make him one a few months ago, and it seemed like a good thing to take on for the season.

It’s a brioche pattern I’ve used before and was a really quick knit. I did not give Thomas away with the hat. I also almost really screwed up. The orange and white scarf I did was out of superwash yarn, and I was thinking this one was too. Nope. It survived the washer and dryer slightly fulled and still fit the recipient, so no big harm done. I did warn him if he did anything besides a hand wash in cold water the thing was toast though.

Of course I’d knit him another one, he’s a knitworthy sort of person.

Got another test knit on the needles. Almost done with the first sock, then I’ll go back to the other test and finish it up.

Finished up a spinning project. It’s 50 silk/50 Targhee from Huckleberry Knits, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Plied, pre-soak.

And the finished yarn.

I finished one other project too, but don’t seem to have a picture. It was another pair of socks for a gift.

Next time I won’t be so long between posts. Happy New Year!
