The Elysium super wash Merino is done, and I’m pretty impressed with my spinning. Yes, I know I shouldn’t say that but I did anyway.
Yes, I hang it over the hall bathroom tub to dry. It’s the only kind of out-of-the-way place I have that doesn’t mind drips.
So why am I impressed? Eight ounces of fiber. 20-22 WPI depending on how much I want to pack it into the tool. The best part? 1,250 yards. I knew it was spinning nice and thin, but I’m really surprised by how thin it wound up.
Speaking of impressed, I’m test driving a new yarn for a friend. I forgot to ask if I could talk about it, so I’m not saying what it is yet. But it’s really really nice to knit with. Awesome smoosh factor working for it.
The pattern is Magrathea by Martina Behm. It’s one of her quartet of patterns titled “Hitchhiker – A Trilogy of Four Patterns”.
I don’t quite have the edging pattern memorized yet, but just need a quick glance at the chart to remind myself what to do on the right side rows.
I needed a little retail therapy this week, so hit Rav looking at Wollmeise destashes. I scored two different ones. The first arrived yesterday.
Believe it or not it’s really purple, not blue. Really, really purple. I love it, but have no idea what I’ll do with it yet. The other one isn’t here yet.
The second issue of Ply magazine came yesterday, and I’m as in love with this issue as I was the first. Every single article doesn’t appeal because I’m not interested in carding my own batts, but that’s okay. Once again I’m blown away by the sheer quality of the publication. Absolutely no corners cut. It also helps that Jacey Boggs is the model for all the pictures and she’s about as cute as they come.
I did get a few more rows done on the Vitamin D, but it doesn’t look different enough to make it worth taking a picture.
With the Elysium off the wheel I really wanted to start the Polwarth from Blue Moon that was the first club shipment. Instead I decided to go ahead and start the next braid of the Bitter Lime to Rose gradient from Fiber Optic. Slippery slidey stuff, but holy cats it’s pretty.
As you can see I’ve just barely started it. And now I’m itching to get back to it, so I’m done here. Happy Sunday!
