There just wasn’t much to talk about last week, so no post. When I looked for things to take pictures of the same seems true this week, but here I am anyway.
I’ve started on the second of the Euclid socks, but only have the cuff done. Not enough to see to bother with the pixels.
I finished spinning the BFL from Into the Whirled that was in the SSK goodie bag. I didn’t check the WPI, but got about 325 yards out of 4 ounces.
Very pleasant to spin. I wasn’t paying enough attention when I started the second half of the braid, so I wound up with mostly barber poled yarn. I still like it though.
I’ve been working quite a lot on the design for my sweater based on the Fair Isle design class I took. I searched books, copied patterns and tried to divide colors, twiddled designs, and just in general mucked about with it for a long time with no tangible or visible results. I did find a pattern I like, and started swatching.
The pattern is getting lost in the color changes. So I decided yesterday I’m going to pick one of the green/blue colors and use the red/brown gradient. I haven’t decided yet which will be the pattern and which the background, I’ll swatch it both ways. Means I’ll have to buy more yarn but since when has that ever slowed me down?
I started spinning some swirl BFL from Gale’s Art that I’ve had for a long time. It’s very pretty.
Just ignore the hot pink bit peeking out, that’s just a bit of my leader.
It seemed appropriate to spin something beautiful this round. I spent quite a bit of time with Gale at SSK, and really enjoyed her company. So it felt right to use her fiber.
I really should have dusted before I took the picture.
I spun a bit on Robin‘s Kromski Sonata one of the times she came to visit, and while it was nice I was fine with what I had. Then I tried one again at SSK in the tasting room they had set up.
Oh shit. That thing spun when I looked at it hard. I knew I was doomed.
So I now have a Kromski Sonata sharing the house. It only seemed right that the first fiber on a wheel I fell in love with at SSK be from a person I forged the beginning of a friendship with there too.
We’re not going to talk about how the last couple of weeks of work have been, although in the end everything is fine. We’re not going to talk about credit card fraud. We’re not going to talk about summer finally arriving with a vengeance. We’re just going to say hello to my beautiful new friend, and enjoy the pleasure it brings.
After all, life is more about the pleasures, right?
