Now Who?

As promised last week, I concentrated on the Momma Maaema last week. Yesterday it paid off.

20″ x 64.5″, not blocked terribly hard but stretched pretty well.

I’m absolutely delighted with it, even if it did take way too long to finish. I’m just way too easily distracted.

The trip to Vegas with Mom has been postponed, not sure when the reschedule is yet. Her husband is in Phoenix at a Kindred facility being weaned off a ventilator. Sound familiar? He probably had a heart attack New Year’s Eve, but due to some other complications they weren’t able to do tests to see what they need to do. He is making some progress, and hopefully will be able to come home in the next 3-4 weeks.

Since I’m going to be home for the holiday weekend, I decided to go ahead and see if I could finish something else for the Loop! SAL that ends January 31. I finished spinning my Raindrop Coordinate today. I’m going to spin the Raindrop then ply them together.

The other thing I’ve been knitting on is the Coyote Trail. I was beginning to worry about running out of the blue yarn, but wound up with quite a bit left. Now I’m just on the purple bottom section. I’ve just started it so you can’t see the pattern yet at all.

Really interesting construction. A few rows before the end of the body you run a second needle through one row of stitches, then go on and finish and bind off. Then you start working the stitches from under the ruffle, so the lacy border hangs out from under the body of the shawl. Very cool, and it will show up much better when it’s done and blocked.

I was really hoping Denver would make it to the Super Bowl this year. I think Peyton deserves it. When they got beat I shifted allegiance to Green Bay, but they got beat too. I don’t give a flip about any of the other teams left, so I’m just watching the games because it’s the playoffs.

Had to go to work during off hours twice this week, once on an emergency call in when power went down to the data center and we shifted to generator. Luckily the feeling I had that I was coming down with Jim’s cold has passed. Other than work yesterday I’ve been taking it easy this weekend. Looking forward to three days with no alarm next weekend.

Happy knitting!

Intriguing work, as always. Trip postponement is a bummer, for sure.

Over 5′ long, and it took a while to finish? Really? You’re blaming distractability?
