Cracker Bump

A Saturday post – odd for me. But not really, tomorrow is a big work day. Since I skipped last week because I didn’t have much to show, I figured I’d at least try to get something done.

The Fadmur is finished and it’s pretty awesome.

I’d put it on for a picture, but I’m really not dressed for it. I am dressed, but not well. Or maybe well is a good word – fleece jammies is a pretty nice way to be dressed when I think about it.

Jennifer reminded me tonight it Knit In. I haven’t been to the shop in AGES. Mostly because I’m pretty tired, but also because I totally lack willpower and do NOT need to buy more yarn. The tired should get better soon, tomorrow is one of the last steps in the big electrical project we’ve had going in the data center for the last couple of months. While I’ve been trying to not buy yarn, I have been enjoying getting my STR kits. This month is called Cables of Wrath and is absolutely gorgeous. No surprise I love it, since it’s almost exactly like the Morticia already in my stash.

Top is the club shipment, bottom is Morticia. I’m not upset at all, because I really do love the color mix. And the patterns? One is for boot toppers, which apparently are quite the thing right now. Not the thing for me though. The sock pattern? Oh yeah, that’s a totally different story. Check out this lovely thing:

One of the things BMFA puts in with every club shipment is an “Emergency Skein” of the yarn. I put all mine on a plastic D-ring and just enjoy looking at them sometimes. I’ve been in the club 3 years, and have managed not to lose any of them. If you actually count there are 19 there – the extra is from the Lenore kit Nancy gave me a few years ago. That was my first pair of STR socks, and boy did they hook me. So I can thank her for all the lovelies in my stash. Or blame her, if you want to look at it that way. :)

Yes, I will be signing up again next year. Even though I haven’t knit many of my socks, I just love looking forward to the package every two months. And who knows – maybe I’ll actually get off my ass and knit some of them some day. I really had to fight off the temptation to start this month’s pair, but I have one in progress I really need to finish first.

Earlier while Thomas was in Jim’s lap I started wondering where Crackhead was. Normally he hangs out in a room where other living beings are. I found him.

It’s a Cracker bump. I find him adorable.

I finished the Seafoam SSK singles. Polwarth from Gale’s Art. Now I’ve just got the SSK multi to spin up, and I can ply them. I’m really looking forward to the finished yarn.

I’ve been a monogamous knitter this week. Have only worked on this baby blanket. It’s out of some really old cotton from Patons that’s been in my stash FOREVER. It’s my entry for The Knit Girllls Deep Stash Dive event. Week before last I did do a little knitting on the Spectra before we ticked over to December and I could start the blanket.

Utterly brainless log cabin. I was just using the blue yarn, but the pattern completely disappeared. I’ve got a ridiculous amount of this yarn, so going with the brown and the blue was no problem. I need to figure out what to use to knit another blanket for a friend of Mom’s too. Got something in mind, but haven’t solidified the plan yet. Well, she’s a friend of mine too, but you know what I mean.

A week from Monday is our 18th wedding anniversary. I still can’t believe Jim has put up with me this long. Over the last few months I seem to have finally realized just how lucky I am to have him. We don’t have anything fancy planned, but we’ll at least go to dinner or something.
