Knitting and Spinning and Daydreaming, Oh My!

I’ve been a busy little knitter lately, but it hasn’t slowed my brain down any.

In the FO department, I actually have two things. Three if you count spinning. First is the Moulon Rouge I told you about last time. I finished it three days after I started it, and it’s really cute. Please excuse the really flat looking hair – I had just come from having it cut and told Tiffany not to style it because I forgot I needed to do a photo shoot.

It can be worn several different ways. VERY happy with it.

In the finished spinning division, I have Shetland!

I got about 590 yards of a heavy fingering or so two ply. I’ve got some singles left, but am just hanging on to them. I’ll ply them up if I need a few more yards. I’m thinking of doing one of the 7 Small Shawls II by Romi Hill out of it.

The next FO is the Hypnosis socks. I’ve got an idea where I want to take my Pathway photo to send Denise, but haven’t put the plan into motion yet.

I’ve done a few more rows on the Bailey Cardigan. It’s what I took to Knit In to work on last weekend. Speaking of, had a GREAT time. I hadn’t been in a couple of months so it was really nice to see everyone. I’ve learned to always take something relatively brainless, and this certainly fits the bill. Nice soothing stockinette in a lovely soft worsted weight yarn. Soothing to knit on when I’m feeling stressed.

I’ve also picked the Maaema up again. It’s not a hard knit at all, but it’s eensie weensie true lace weight yarn, so I do have to actually watch what I’m doing. It’s right at 25% done – there are 26 pattern repeats and I’ve done 7.5.

Spinning wise I’ve popped another mystery fiber back onto the wheel. I picked up a few things at small fiber festivals, and somehow managed to lose the tags. VERY irritating. I don’t know exactly what this is. It’s a fairly long staple so I don’t think it’s Merino. It’s also a little coarse. Not sure if that’s because of the type of fiber, or if it’s slightly over processed. The way it feels I kind of suspect the latter.

Kind of hard to see the ball behind, but it runs from deep greens through purples and blues. Lovely (surprise!) jewel tones. Haven’t a clue what I’ll do with it, I’ll have to see how it looks once it’s been plied up.

Storms to our west, supposed to get here between about 11 and midnight. Never freaking fails on a work night. So long as it doesn’t knock out power to the Center so I have to race in and baby sit gensets I’ll just live with it.

As for the daydreaming….there’s a fiber fest a couple of hours south of here the last weekend in March. I really, really don’t need any more fiber (see previous blog post) but the idea of popping down Thursday night, hitting the Market first thing Friday morning, and being home late Friday afternoon has a certain appeal. Especially since I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed lately and have been craving some alone time. The problem is my credit card might never forgive me. We’ll see.

What kind of wheel do you have, or wheels?

  2. Dang! That’s a lot of progress on so many projects!
