I thought of some catchy name for the post yesterday, but it’s escaped me and apparently will never return. Or maybe it’s just that I’m not awake yet.
We took another nice getaway to Bella Vista the week of Columbus Day. One advantage to being a Fed, I get some holidays others don’t. Because of that I managed to finish the second TDS stage in two days and score 8 points.
They’re STR Lightweight in True Blood Red, and they bled all over me the entire time I knit them. In fact, it took a few days for it to all wear off my right thumbnail. But they’re really cool looking socks and I like them a lot. Haven’t tried to set the red dye yet – not really looking forward to it. Maybe today.
Crackhead protects Thomas with his amazing laser kitteh eyes….
One of the reasons we chose the week we did to go to BV was for craft shows. I was hoping to find fiber, but didn’t see anything. I know Lost City Knits was at War Eagle, but I just wasn’t up to go battle that mob. We did get together with Denise and Chris for a nice dinner one night though. Sigh….once again I wish they lived closer.
Anywho, it wasn’t a total miss. I did buy art. Again.
Not anywhere close to anything else in the house, but I fell in love with the guy’s work. I actually liked another piece with dolphins and such better, but it was too big for the space. It’s also quite heavy and sits on rubberized feet so the cats can’t knock it over.
Round 3 of TDS started on the 19th. Pretty socks. The requirement to make them three pattern repeats tall in the leg mean they’re way longer than I like my socks.
I twisted it a little on the sock blocker so you can see how the gusset decreases run down the center of the bottom of the foot, making a cool little pattern. Someone said it was rune-like, which is a pretty good description. One down, one to go on them. They’re from Brown Sheep Wildfoote and Regia Silk, both from stash.
And finally, I’ve spun 3/4 of the singles out of my merino/silk in Morocco from CloudLover. I decided to go ahead and ply part of it so I could see how I liked it.
I like. It’s going to be a small shawl for a KAL, if I can ever get through the socks and the baby gifts.
Speaking of, better get the second sock cast on. Go Cards!!!!
You always find the neatest art. I love it. The new socks are really cool too.
