We adopted a buddy for Thomas on Friday. He came from Second Chance in Norman. His name was Logan, but we’re not terribly sold on it. He was Black Cat for a couple of hours, but that’s not going to last. Right now he’s Firecracker, commonly called Cracker, Crackie, Crackhead, Crack….we’ll see what sticks. He is a little ball of fire, that’s for sure. I was playing with him this morning and he made these huge leaps a couple of times. He and Thomas are starting to play together, and we’ve only had one very minor little spat. Thankfully he let us sleep last night. Friday he was still pretty wired and it kept sounding like there was a race track through the room.
I figured Thomas would take to him fairly well. He’s pretty laid back.
And they’ve been chasing each other this morning. Both spent time in my lap yesterday, and they’ve shared the couch too. I’m thinking they’ll be best buddies pretty quickly, which is exactly what we wanted.
I wish we could save them all, but we can’t. I’m just glad we can make two happy and healthy for the rest of their lives.
I did manage to not start something totally new after my major bout of startitis last weekend. I picked up a pullover sweater I started last year and abandoned pretty quickly for some reason. It only had a couple of inches knit, and I ripped it and changed sizes.
It’s got an empire waist and has a drawstring that will thread through the eyelet row. I’m enjoying knitting on it, when the boys let me. Thomas really likes to try to “help”, but so far he hasn’t troubled anything that’s just sitting around. Crack hasn’t paid much attention yet, although he did show some interest yesterday afternoon. He was so worn out from his transition he just couldn’t maintain though and had a nap instead.
Upgraded the laptop two full versions of Ubuntu yesterday. I was reminded why I like Linux so much – no reinstallation of applications. No license keys to futz with. No compatibility issues. All I had to to was get Flash and Java working in Firefox (always an issue when you upgrade), and reset my CPU temp display to Fahrenheit instead of Celsius. Beats MS every time.
He’s adorable and definitely looks like he’s got some attitude!
