I Finished Something!

But you don’t get any pictures until the recipient acknowledges the gift.  I’m pretty sure they read the blog, so… Plus I forgot to take a finished photo.  I will post the in progress one, which is all you really need to see anyway.

And how did I whip out an FO so quickly?  Why, thanks for asking.  Spent a whole lot of time in transit Friday evening/Saturday all day.  For this:

Yep, that’s the view from my lanai in the condo on Maui.  We’re renting from the same person (here if you’re interested) but a different unit than last time.  This one is actually closer to the beach, but it is on the sixth floor.  Your options are go out the door, turn right and go about 20 feet to the stairs, or turn left and go half a block back up the building to the elevator.

Yes, my legs are starting to complain.  And I don’t care.

Today we scoped out a couple of the beaches south of here, and we’ll probably go to one of them later in the week.  I mailed off the afore-mentioned gift, we hit the grocery store, and I got two new bathing suits, a dress, and a new sun hat.  My old hat has finally pretty much had it.  I’m not happy about my current beach bod, but at least the new suits don’t bulge in very unbecoming places like the old ones did.

I love this place.  If we ever hit the lottery, I’m moving here.

I’ve knit a few more rows on the North Roe shawl, but it doesn’t look different enough to post.  The bad part about triangular shawls you start at the back neck is the rows just get longer and longer.  Since I finished up the other project about an hour before we got to Maui, I only got a couple of rows in on it yesterday.  Friday night in Dallas I started on the sleeves for the Swing Jacket.  The skirt is finished and I’m ready to start up the bodice, but it requires changing needles every miter for shaping, and I didn’t want to have to juggle four different sizes on the plane.  The sleeves are done with one size needle (4mm) all the way through, so that’s what I brought with me.  I’m doing each tier on one sleeve then the other so I won’t get Second Sleeve Syndrome and never finish the thing.

Yes, it’s blurry.  I took the photo on a glass topped table and had to turn the flash off.  Slower shutter, I can’t hold still to save my life so…live with it.

Aloha!  Glad to hear it’s a little warmer in Oklahoma.  It was about 85 today and sunny.  Looks like the breeze is starting to pick up a little finally, which is good.  It was stuffy enough when we got here last nigh that we closed everything up and ran the AC.  I’d much rather have windows open though.
