Fine Thanks, and Yours?
Thanksgiving was good. We said to heck with all the cooking and cleaning and went to Vegas. Flew out Wednesday night (the busiest travel day of the year - me? WTF?) and came home Sunday. Ate very well, went to a couple of shows, had a good time. As always, the freak watching was pretty good.
Speaking of thanks, one of the things I’m always thankful for is our military. They sacrifice so we can enjoy living the way we do. One small thing I can do to show my appreciation is send hand knit gifts to the troops. Karen J. volunteers with Gourmet Yarn to coordinate a drive every holiday season for knitted helmet liners. I took my 5 up yesterday. I’ve been knitting on them for a few weeks, and always grab an excuse to go hang out at the best yarn shop in Oklahoma City.

Also took the opportunity to have lunch with Jenn, and we both couch camped and knit for a couple of hours. It was really nice to spend time with my friend, I don’t get the opportunity very often. I was doing really well and not indulging in any yarn too. Was. Until she brought over a hank of Malabrigo Sock that had my name all over it. So one had to come home with me too. See?

I know, amazing that I’d buy something that color. It will go very nicely with the Swing Coat when it’s done. I’m on the last little miter of the skirt section. I really like being able to see the progress.

Yes, that’s Squeek’s foot. She was being her usual helpful kitty self. We put her back on the liver supplement, although only three days per week. She had started vomiting again, but not as much as she was a couple of months ago. She’s been on it for a little over a week and is already better. I know she’s old, but I’m not ready for her to be gone yet. Besides, nobody (human or feline) likes to throw up. Well, nobody normal. Anywho, she’s been very affectionate since we got home from Vegas. This is the first morning she hasn’t still been in bed with me when I woke up.

While in Vegas I was waking up every morning and knitting for an hour or more while Jim did his run. Between that and the airplane time, I made great progress on the North Roe Shawl (Ravelry / pattern).

Using the Malabrigo Lace yarn, and oh *my*. It’s so amazingly soft. I’m really, really enjoying knitting with it, although it feels like if you blow on it hard it will break. Hasn’t acted that way though. One thing, if your hands are the least bit rough you will snag on the yarn. I’m trying to not pick at my fingers, but it’s hard.
So, hope eveyone has recovered from their Turkey weekends and is safe, warm and happy. Got some job related paperwork on my plate for today, and…knitting! Whodathunkit?
