How Do You Remember It?
There’s a song I learned as a kid - I remember it as an around-the-campfire song from Girl Scouts - about the Little Green Frog. I learned it as “Ack-glung went the little green frog one day….” with the glung having a sort of gulping pronunciation. Of course it was accompanied by all sorts of face making and hand waving, which made it fun. I got curious and googled this morning, and discovered there are a *ton* of different wordings for the thing. I also saw it frequently referred to as a nursery rhyme. Boy I don’t remember it that way at all. But - how did you learn it? And does the memory make you smile? It does me.
Why was I thinking about a froggy song? Because I’m re-knitting a frogged project of course. I know stitch/row gauge differs in stockinette. But for whatever reason I didn’t think about it when I started knitting the baby blanket for Mom’s friend. So…I got it over half knitted when I really looked at the thing and saw how crooked it was. Very briefly considered letting it go, but of course ripped the whole thing and started over. Much happier with it now.

One of my coworker’s wives (that looks strange - he only has one wife, but….coworker’s wife doesn’t sound right) is expecting in November and I’m seriously considering whipping out another blanket to give them. Bill (Facility Manager I work closely with) suggested that might be a dangerous precedent to set. He’s got a point - so I’m also thinking about maybe just a BSJ and booties. We’ll see.
Spent much of the week working on a double knit hotpad for a class. Knit a couple of them getting the chart just right. The difference in stitch and row gauge is very pronounced in double knitting, so I wound up stretching the chart and am much happier with the left result. See?

The only difference is on the left on I duplicated every other row of the diamond. Oh wait - I started one with the top half of a diamond and the other with the bottom half. Whatever - point is it was an interesting exercise.
Retreat was an absolute blast, as expected. I didn’t take very many photos this time, and have decided to keep the Pirate Initiation photos private. Although I wanna be one next time too!!! Margaret was nice enough to bring me a copy of the new Swing Swagger Drape book, and oh boy! I started one project down there - a very pretty vest/stole sort of thing that I didn’t take a picture of this morning, using Noro Silk Garden. And I *had* to start the cover swing coat. Mine is in Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool in black and that gorgeous garnet I got a few weeks ago.

Doing the last installment of the raglan bear sweater at guild tomorrow. About to (hopefully) enjoy watching the OU/Texas game.

Great projects, as always… wondered where the knitting was progressing. I’m still trying to get my mind around the Art Deco hat.

The knitting looks great. I really like the yarn in the blanket very colorful and cheery. How about “the wife of a coworker”?
