Remember Us?
Sunday, April 26th, 2009One problem with being a promiscuous knitter is perfectly good projects sometimes get shoved aside just because something else catches your eye. Such was the case with the Jeannee shell I started last April. Gulp - last April for a freaking little shell. Sheesh!
Anyway, a few days ago it asked to come out and play again. I have obliged. I’ve been working on it a bit for the last few days. The back is done and the front well started. See?

Hmmm….interesting light artifact on the back piece, right side, just by the armhole. There’s not a spot on the sweater. Maybe it’s a ghost?
Before we go to the other thing that wanted to come out and play, I did start the lappy cover as expected. I just swatched a bit, did the math, and used Judy’s Magic Cast On from Knitty to start at the bottom and work up. I did knit the first round, then launched into seed stitch. One advantage to knitting Continental - seed doesn’t make me bat an eye.

I didn’t poke the corners out all the way, they’re not rounded off like that. I’m leaning towards turning it inside out so I have a couple of rounds of purl instead of knit at the bottom. Less obtrusive. When I get it to the top I’ll bind off half the stitches and knit a bit of a flap. Do attached I-cord all the way around, and put a snap in the middle. I’ll put a pretty button on the outside to attach the snap.
And yes Robin - I did spin today. I had to stop spinning a few months ago when my shoulder started acting up, it was just too painful. Since the PT did such magic, and I can now move it almost as well as before it all started without any pain, I decided it was time to give it a shot.

And it was awesome. I finished filling the second bobbin and am almost all the way through the third. I’m going to ply the three strands together, then decide what to make with it. I’m glad I’ve actually started wearing scarves, because I suspect that’s what this lucious feeling stuff will wind up being. There’s not a whole lot of yardage, it’s only four ounces. Well, I say there’s not much yardage - we’ll see when it’s done.
There’s some really active weather in the state right now, so I’m going to bag up the computer and tuck it behind the chair with the Joy just in case. Jim is going to stay up and watch things because he doesn’t have anything on his plate tomorrow and I have to go to work.
