One More

One more purrfect present under the tree.

We refreshed a few catnip toys this morning.  Between batting them around and rolling in the loose stuff Jim dropped on the floor, she was pooped.

The slippers are done, dry, and the paint on the bottoms is drying before being puffed.

Raw:

And felted:

This time I used one strand of Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Bulky (black) and one Cascade 220 (orange).  I like the combination.  Very firm felted fabric, good body.

One of the pair of socks Mom stole when she was here a trip or two ago was done toe up.  As they’ve sneaked into the dryer a couple of times, they’ve felted slightly.  The bind off (top) had got almost too tight for her to get over her heel.

The socks are from Fiesta Ballet, which is 50% alpaca 50% tencel.  I think I’d actually call them slightly fulled, not necessarily felted.  The problem is the top had really fuzzed and grabbed together, so I had to work at it to get the bind off undone.  I had to be rough enough with it I decided to take out one more row to be sure my binding off wasn’t done with damaged yarn.

Then I launched into EZ’s Sewn Bind Off all the way around.  Magic!  They’re now fixed and wearable again.

The Swirl Shawl is down to only needed 5 or 6 more hexagons, then all those ends worked in and it will be ready to block.  It’s very pretty, and I’m looking forward to being able to add it to the FO’s for the year.  I just hope I can finish it before Thursday.

Happy Holidays everyone!
