That Wasn’t So Bad
Saturday, May 31st, 2008It helps that I know what I’m doing and have root access….
So the last few days I’ve been working on the bag for the Mosaic Tote class next month. It’s going to be good. My first color choice was a failure. This is a case of the photo being much clearer color wise than the real thing is. This is the failed one pre-felting.

IRL the colors just blend together and you can barely see the pattern. Today when I washed the towels I tossed it (zipped into a pillow case) in and ran them on “super” for about 18 minutes, then went ahead and let the washer go through two cold rinses. This is the post-felting strip.

I really like the way it turned out and the body of it. It is a good example of why they say to not let your felted stuff go through the spin cycle though. It’s got a pretty good crease in it and I don’t know if I’d be able to get it out or not.
So I’ve got both sides done. Here’s one.

And the other.

It’s one of Barbara Walker’s “Magic Mosaics”, which means no matter which way you turn it the pattern is the same. I’m working on the strip that will go around the sides and make the handle now.
I also started Mom’s Ruffled Shawl before she left. I haven’t touched it in a few days because I’ve been consumed with the bag. This picture also shows a nice muddy paw print on the carpet. One of these days I’ll have it cleaned.

Now the question is do comments work…
