Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Living Room
Sunday, October 1st, 2006Cue music…
There you are. It’s a quiet night. You’re watching a baseball game, doing a crossword, maybe knitting. Suddenly, something changes.
You struggle to put your finger on it. You realize - it’s the absence of a sound.
The sound of a Nylabone being ravaged.
And suddenly, it happens:
THE ATTACK OF THE VICIOUS KILLER PIT BULL!!!!

Sure, it looks innocent enough. Just a little kiss. But then, the full fledged all out assault begins. And she won’t stop until she’s got you pinned, helpless. Check out the poor hapless victim:

Isn’t she just cute??
Oh wait - this is a knitting blog. OK.
Ta Da!! Finished object!! (Linked photos)
These are the Twisted Vine socks from Joslyns Fiber Farm, one of her SOTM offerings. It’s done in her Twinkle Toes yarn, which is just fabulous. Then again, all of her yarns are. Why do I even bother saying so any more?
I actually rushed to finish these because I thought I’d want the needles for the latest thing I’ve signed up for that I don’t have time to do - a knitalong that does a sock every two months. How fortunate - I found out about it and signed up last week, and the October pattern just posted today. First glance I was a little overwhelmed, but then I realized it’s just stranded knitting - actually might be fun. But, I did decide to use my size zero bamboos instead of the Skacel. They’re so slippery I just kill my hand gripping them.
Something else - I think taking a photo of your own feet must be like they say television is - it adds 10 pounds. I really do have small ankles and somewhat well shaped legs, not the sausages the photo depicts. Maybe I need to get some sock blockers for photography use. We’ll see.
Ruffled Coat Update:
We’re officially ruffling. Check it out:

It starts on a very short stretch of stitches, technically the bottom of the right front. Then turns the corner and starts up the angled front.

As you can see it’s quite ruffled. The outer edge is much longer than the inner.
If I get short on yarn I’ll do fewer short rows across the bottom, which is the last thing to be knit. I may do fewer across the back of the neck too, just so it will lay nicely.
Speaking of…I think I’ll go knit and wait for Desperate Housewives.
