Progress and FO and Stuff

The boys have graduated to being almost constant companions.  They still don’t sleep together, but they’re pretty much inseparable when they’re awake.

Been working away on the Empire Waist pullover.  Back is done, front is almost to the eyelet section.

Last week we got a surprise email from Schoolhouse Press with the pattern for the slippers we all went nuts over at Camp.  I finished a pair this morning.

I’m going to find a way to make the toe less pointy on Jim’s.

The pattern is from the upcoming “Knit One, Knit All”, an all knit book of previously unpublished EZ designs.   We saw several of the finished projects at camp and it will be a good book.

Does this seat make my butt look big???

No Thomas, your butt *is* big!

Yesterday we went to the art show at OCCC.  They do it every Labor Day weekend and it’s grown tremendously.  I was pleasantly surprised to see Denise of Lost City Knits had a booth.  I’ve known Denise online for quite some time, and it was really nice to meet her (and her SO Chris) IRL.  Of course I also had to bring home some yarn…

There’s also a green laceweight alpaca.

Also been working on a project for a class I’m teaching in November at Gourmet Yarn.  It’s a scarf that pools on purpose.  Cool idea!

As usual, prepping for a class is a learning experience.  You learn what *not* to do….

Want to know what’s wrong with that?  Take the class and I’ll tell you!

Going to the shop tomorrow for a while.  I haven’t been there in forever, and need to get some stuff for still more baby gifts, as well as just get my yarn fume fix.

Oh!  Almost forgot.  This lovely thing should be dry by then for me to take and show off:

Doesn’t help that my carpet is so neutral…

It’s been waiting to block for several days because the pan under the inside part of our AC rusted out and got the carpet in the yarn room wet.  Like half the room wet.  Luckily there was nothing directly on the floor in that part of the room, everything was in plastic bins or up on shelving units of some sort.

The bill wasn’t pretty, but it’s all fixed now.

Next Sunday (the 12th) the military helmet liner knitting starts up again at GYC.  It’s a great way to show your appreciation for what our service member’s do for us, whether you agree with how they’re currently being used or not.  Donations of travel size toiletries (think the ones they leave you in motel rooms), hard candy, prepaid phone cards, individually packaged powdered drink mixes, etc are also gratefully accepted.

Happy Labor Day tomorrow!
